We hope you had an amazing summer and had plenty of rest. However, it is now time to put those dancing feet on again!

Get ready to dance the night away with a traditional Céilidh performed live by one of the UK’s best ceilidh bands – Bang On The Wall Band.

Our first ceilidh of the season is the wonderful Folk Festival Ceilidh, as the name suggests this ceilidh coincides with Derby Folk Festival!

We are also very excited to announce that the ceilidh is FREE entry to Folk Festival ticket holders. How good is that!

A ceilidh, barn dance or country dance is a great fun way to meet people and even helps to keep you fit. No prior dancing experience is necessary as all the dances are called – with the caller explaining all the dances in detail – ensuring everyone has great fun no matter how many right and left feet you may have!

The Bang On The Wall Band consists of Martin Wildig on lead melodeon, Phil Preen on percussion and tin whistle, Michael Scrivens on Bass and Neil Cadwallader on Guitar. The band play mostly traditional English, Scottish, Irish and American tunes, but you may hear the occasional tune from mainland Europe or Scandinavia, and also modern tunes composed by a band member or friend of the band.

Martin’s forceful, driving melodeon playing, Phil’s unique percussion style, and their enthusiasm for the music, combine to create the band’s wonderfully danceable sound.

John Brown is an established part of the ceilidh scene in the north of England, and has become a large part of the Sheffield ceilidh tradition. His calling style could best be described as fun, blending interesting dances not often seen with old favourites delivered with a degree of humour that puts the dancers at ease and helps everyone have fun. He can be found calling regularly at most the ceilidh series in the north, and festivals up and down the country. He’s been very involved with the student folk scene calling for Sheffield Ceilidh Soc and plenty of behind the scenes work for IVFDF (the student folk festival).

Come along and enjoy 3 of the best hours of your week with a live band and caller. All the dances are explained so no experience is necessary. Doors open at 7.00pm with dancing from 7.30pm-11pm (with a short break halfway through).
