Band: Celebration Barn Dance Band
Caller: Yvonne Kawecka
Friday, 11 October 2019, 8.00pm – 11.00pm
The Polish Club, 18 Kedleston Road, Derby DE22 1GU (Find Us)
A ceilidh, ceili, barn dance, hoe down, folk dance, country dance or whatever you want to call it is a great fun way to meet people and even helps to keep you fit. No prior dancing experience is necessary as all the dances are called – with the caller explaining all the dances in detail – ensuring everyone has great fun no matter how many right and left feet you may have!
The Celebration Barn Dance Band
Our band for the evening is the Celebration Barn Dance Band featuring Pete Smale (Bass Guitar) & Ian Wilson (Mandolin) both from Peeping Tom Ceilidh Band and Rachel Bolton (Fiddle). Calling the dances is Yvonne Kawecka.
Ripley Green Garters
We have Ripley Green Garters performing for us during the interval. Ripley Green Garters are a women’s North West Morris side celebrating 36 years together. They hail from the east coast of Derbyshire. Their ages range from 28 to 70+ and energy used is in direct proportion to years. Thus, you’re more likely to catch an alluring glimpse of garter on black stockings on a more mature member. You will recognise them by their brightly coloured, individually designed, patchwork waistcoats and black skirts trimmed with green.
Come along and enjoy 3 of the best hours of your week with a live band and caller. All the dances are explained so no experience is necessary. Doors open at 7.30pm with dancing from 8pm-11pm (with a short break halfway through).
